OHLALA chatted to Nasra Grimley, founder and President of Alkem Longevity and Aesthetic Clinic, to learn how longevity is becoming ingrained in the beauty and well-being landscape.

“…real transformation isn’t about a single treatment or a quick fix. It’s about the daily, unglamorous work of consistency.”

OHLALA – Please tell us a bit about your background, what brought you to Bahrain and how did you become involved in the wellness space?
Nasra Grimley – I’m Omani, half Filipino, and Bahrain is where I’ve built my life, my family and now my career. My journey into wellness didn’t start with Alkem — it started years earlier, as a nutritionist and personal trainer. I spent that chapter of my life working directly with people, one-on-one, helping them change their habits, their bodies and honestly, their whole relationship with themselves. That hands-on experience taught me something I still carry with me every day: real transformation isn’t about a single treatment or a quick fix. It’s about the daily, unglamorous work of consistency.
That belief is what eventually led me to found Alkem. I kept seeing the same gap — people wanted to invest in their health and longevity, but the options around them were either purely aesthetic or purely clinical. I wanted to build something that did both.
But none of this happens in isolation. I’m also a wife and a mother of three boys, and honestly, that’s the part of my life that keeps everything else honest. Building a business is demanding, but so is showing up for your family, and I’ve learned that you can’t really talk credibly about wellness and longevity if you’re not living it yourself — in how you train, how you eat, how you show up for the people you love.
OHLALA – How was Alken conceived and what was your vision for the clinic?
Nasra – Alkem came from my own health journey. Going through that experience changed how I thought about health completely — it moved me away from chasing symptoms and toward wanting to understand root causes. My husband Aaron and I are both big believers in functional medicine, root-cause healing and longevity as a way of life, not just a trend, and that belief is really the foundation everything else was built on.
Once I started looking at wellness through that lens, I couldn’t unsee the gap in what already existed. Aesthetics lived in one place, medicine in another, and true longevity and functional care almost nowhere at all — certainly not brought together under one roof. I wanted to build the place that didn’t exist yet. Somewhere a person could walk in for a facial and walk out having also had a real conversation about their longevity, their hormones, their blood work — the actual root of how they’re feeling, not just how they look.
My vision was — a
