OHLALA spent several days with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 — discovering a foldable that gives content creators more room to shoot, edit and work while bringing the creative process together on one market-leading device that demonstrates the future of fold technology.

Open to Possibility
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 had barely landed with us before our social media team started finding reasons to keep it. In use, it quickly proved itself a versatile tool for creating content on the go.
Opening the Fold8 revealed a much larger workspace, but its appeal went well beyond size. Shooting, reviewing and multitasking all felt remarkably easy, making the creative process smoother without taking away from the spontaneity of creating content in the moment.

A Bigger Canvas
At 201g, the Fold8 is Samsung’s lightest Fold yet, so carrying it around never felt like a chore. Closed, the 5.5-inch cover display handled quick checks and social scrolling with ease. Open it, however, and the 7.6-inch 4:3 Dynamic AMOLED 2X display gave us far more room to work.
That extra space quickly proved useful for reviewing shots, checking captions and keeping multiple apps in view. One UI 9, based on Android 17, supports up to three apps on screen, with more available as floating windows. Our social team took full advantage — because apparently one task at a time was never going to keep up with them.

Shoot, Edit, Share
The Fold8 pairs 50MP Wide and Ultra-Wide rear cameras, backed by 10MP cameras on both displays. In everyday use, the main camera delivered detailed, dependable images, while the large internal screen made checking a shot before posting much easier than peering at a conventional phone display.
Dual Recording added another useful option, capturing both sides of a moment while letting us preview ourselves on the cover screen. My FanCam was even more interesting for social content: select a subject in an existing video and Galaxy AI can track that person, automatically reframing the footage into a chosen aspect ratio.
Less time manually chasing someone around the frame meant more time refining the final post — because the content calendar waits for no one.

Cleverly Equipped
Galaxy AI and Gemini felt particularly at home on the larger display. We could keep supporting information visible while working elsewhere on screen, making research and planning less stop-start. For creators constantly moving between ideas, images and social platforms, that extra workspace gave the process a welcome sense of order.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy kept everything responsive, while storage runs from 256GB to 1TB. A 4,800mAh battery, rated for up to 26 hours of video playback, also gave us the confidence to keep shooting without treating every café socket as a potential lifeline.

Hard to Hand Back
What impressed us most was how naturally the Fold8 fitted into a creative working day. It could capture content, give us space to review it and make the next steps easier without demanding a l
